walk up site policy is BIZARRE!! After 3 days you have to remove everything from your site and go to parking lot. ONLY THEN, YOU CAN RETURN TO THE SAME SITE! This is strange and crazy I had to do this, when other sites (including walk up) were availible
I've been to this Park several times. The first time was to hike the trails and go to the scenic overlook(see attached pictures). Since then, I've been there camping, boating and fishing. The campgrounds and staff are excellent and friendly. The lake is usually empty so you can really open up the boat or jet ski. The fishing is worth it because you will catch fish if you know what you are doing or you talk to someone. It's great to be outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Also, the mid State trail connects Ives Run and Hills Creek State Park.
We had a really great time hiking and swimming at Ives Run for the 4th of July. The trails are beautiful. While there are not any life guards on duty, they do provide life jackets. The bathrooms were in rough shape and that's the only reason I didn't give it four stars. I'm sure the fact that it was an extremely busy weekend didn't help but even beyond the typical mess from a crowd, the bathrooms could still use some love. We plan on visiting again many times though! I would definitely recommend this place!
This was the best campground we have ever been to so far. The campgrounds are very well maintained and the employees there are unbelievably nice. The lake there is very fun and the camp store could be better. To top it all off, the views and landscaping there is amazing.
Great place to go fishing or have a picnic
